About The Project
Roots & Eye is an Arts Council-funded R&D. Led by Ada Eravama. The team will collaboratively create a devised theatre piece exploring the struggles of self-identity within a multi-generational Black immigrant family. It will also involve exploring creative access, particularly creative audio description for blind/visually impaired audiences.
At the end of a 2 week R&D process – including working with 2 actors, sound & set designers, and a movement director – there will be a sharing & feedback session for members of the community.
 About The Artist, Ada Eravama
I'm a writer, performer, and access consultant.  In this project, I’m growing my voice as a writer and taking note of techniques when integrating audio description during an R&D process, building a tool kit.
My work transforms the personal into universal stories rooted in lived experiences which audiences recognise in themselves or the people they love. I interrogate the complexity of community and its absence, asking what it means to belong and how shared rituals like gatherings create connection.
Specialising in integrated audio description, I reimagine access not as an add-on, but as part of a story’s creative DNA, shaping both how it is made and how it is experienced. My work invites moments of community, even if only briefly.
