I’m a writer and performer creating new work inspired by my experiences as a Black disabled woman working in the arts and by my Nigerian multigenerational family, in all its wonderful complexities. I’m developing my voice as a writer to reflect on and observe the world around me, interrogate and work through difficult experiences, and find the rug-pulling humor and deep emotions we can all connect to.

When January Visits.

Commissioned by Rope Ladder Fiction, published March 2024.

In the quiet hum of an ordinary day, silence weaves itself into a home, becoming more than the absence of sound. When January Visits is a poignant, reflective tale of two lives—bound by years, shared spaces, and an unspoken grief—navigating the weight of what remains unsaid.

The story captures the universal struggle of reaching out to loved ones in pain, especially when words feel inadequate. Set against the backdrop of January’s duality—a time of stark endings and hopeful beginnings—this short story invites you to lean into its quiet moments.

Amidst suitcases spilling secrets, and Alexa offering unsolicited life advice, i wrote this piece to explore how technology,  influencer culture, and audio description can merge to create something fabulously  bold and relatable.
